Understanding the Price Shopper

Nobody calls 7 different practices and simply chooses the one that is $10 cheaper. Most people have a general idea of how much their procedure will cost. So why do people ask “how much does it cost?” What are they actually looking for? We will identify the reason behind this question and how you can easily give them what they are actually looking for.

Discovery Questions

The majority of dental receptionists are just order takers. Answer the phone, find a time-slot and make the booking. But this isn’t what patients want. (if that’s what they want, they can do it online). What they experience in that first conversation is a taste of what to expect at a practice. Will they be treated like another number? Or will the team be kind, empathise, understand their situation and leave them feeling like you care? (which would you pick?)

Answer the Cost Question

Should you give the exact price? What if you don’t know the price? Should you be vague so they find out when they arrive? How many hoops does your patient have to jump through to get an answer? … What is the best strategy when patients push for an answer? You will learn exactly how to provide this information to your patients.

Follow Through

Regardless of how amazing you are, patients often need time to decide (especially with the big procedures!) So, is that it? Do you give them some information and wait for them to call back? Some of these potential patients will bring in tens-of thousands of income! Are you ready to let them walk away so easily?
